Self love is the best love...
Sharing the journey of the girl who found herself on the other side of the world. Blogging my way into your hearts by sharing my personal stories of fails and wins throughout this crazy thing we call life.
Some days you feel like you’re on top of the world. You have a pep in your step; a smile on your face. You feel as though you’re walking on sunshine and nothing can bring you down. These days are awesome; for obvious reasons. Unfortunately, for most; it won’t be like this EVERY single day. You’ve heard the saying “What goes up, must come down” and this is very true in the human experience.
Life; so beautiful, yet sometimes so NOT! Some days you feel like the world is on top of you. The kind of days where someone asking something as simple as “how are you?” can cause tears to stream down your face. You feel somewhat irrational and why the heck are you so emotional?! Some days you can point to a culprit or a gremlin showing its face again, but sometimes you just can’t quite put your finger on it. All you know is that the dark clouds have moved in and your perspective is all gone.
Since those dark days are inevitably bound to happen for one reason or another; let’s discuss how we get through those days. First and foremost, be easy on yourself. Bad days happen; you’re completely normal. Reach out to a friend or loved one that can be there to support you but can also offer up some perspective. Take a bath, take a walk or take a nap. Even if you find yourself sitting on the floor sobbing; it’s okay. Sometimes we’ve been strong so long that a nice long cry can help release all that we’ve been carrying around. Crying is healthy and should never be viewed as weakness; in fact, I believe it’s strong to show your emotion.
We must learn to be thankful for the somber times; for without them, we would not know how to be so thankful for the amazing times. Without those fall to your knees, heart wrenching moments; we wouldn’t have anything to compare our highs to. As Brene Brown says “When you numb your pain, you also numb your joy”. It’s so true. Often times we want to numb the pain but you can’t have one without the other. You can’t appreciate one without the other. You can’t even truly feel one without the other. The sweet just isn’t as sweet without the sour. Sucks, right?
Hold on to the reality that the bad mood/times cannot last inevitably. The sun will most definitely shine again tomorrow. The ebbs and flows of life are aren’t always simple, but trust the process. You never know. Your break down could be a sign of a breakthrough that is on its way.
