What Bali Taught Me About Self Love

I've always been self conscious about my fair skin; feeling less beautiful because of it. In America, the beauty standards typically include tan skin at any cost.

I've always been self conscious about my fair skin; feeling less beautiful because of it. In America, the beauty standards typically include tan skin at any cost. Whereas my experience in Indonesia has been that the Indonesian women think of their naturally tan skin as "dirty" and have complimented me on my "beautiful skin" multiple times. It seems they would prefer to have lighter skin. Why do I share this vulnerable and personal story? Because this place is showing me how to love myself and all of myself. Something I shy away from is viewed as beauty here. What's the lesson? Love YOU and all of you because somewhere out there someone thinks you're the most beautiful person they've ever seen just as you are. Thank you to the wonderful people of Bali for teaching me to feel so comfortable in my own skin... Literally.

Love & Light,
